Structural ChiropracticStructural chiropractic is concerned with finding the underlying problem. You will be able to see if you’re making progress. At Precision Chiropractic, we utilize a unique kind of functional X-rays that really let you see where the problem areas are and—importantly—see if you’re making progress.
Being in pain is awful. You just want it to stop!
We’re going to help you get out of pain.
But it’s very important to understand that pain is a symptom of a deeper problem. It’s your body’s way of screaming to get your attention.
There are a lot of ways to stop the pain. Many of them do NOTHING to address the real problem. When you mask your pain with temporary remedies, it’s like turning up your music to drown out the sound of your kids screaming. You haven’t fixed anything.
Precision Chiropractic is the only facility in Durham, and one of only about 400 facilities of its kind in the whole country, that specializes in precise structural and functional correction of the spine. We find the underlying problem and fix it. That way, not only do your symptoms (like pain) go away, but we utilize a unique kind of functional X-rays that really let you see where the problem areas are and, importantly, see if you’re making progress. Although you may not need to—because you’ll feel it!
What Does the Structure of My Spine Have to Do With My Health Problems?
What does the structure of your spine have to do with overall health? Everything! The nerves that run throughout your body and control the functions of all the organs originate in the brain and spine. Abnormal positions of the spine (called subluxations) choke the nerves and interfere with the communication between the brain and the rest of the body. When your spine structurally intact, the nervous system can do its job and your body works and feels better.
That’s not to say chiropractic is a magic cure for every health problem you could ever encounter. Some chiropractors will try to tell you that. Not here. If Dr. Martin thinks your problems are outside the scope of chiropractic care, he will tell you. We are not anti medicine.
But many, many, many problems can be resolved without the use of medication or surgery, simply by keeping the spine adjusted so the brain can send its signals uninterrupted through the nerves to the rest of the body. Time and time again we see people get better. They get off medication. Their pain goes away. Problems go away that weren’t even the reason they came in the first place! What do you have to lose? Give structural chiropractic a try.
What If I Don’t Feel Pain?
People are sometimes surprised to learn that only about 10 percent of the nerves in your body feel pain. That’s why you should never wait until you feel pain to get adjusted. Symptoms of subluxations in your spine do not typically appear until after t damage has occurred. By the time you develop a secondary problem like asthma, indigestion or sexual dysfunction, the subluxation has been left untreated for a long time and you should begin chiropractic care immediately.
How Do We Find the Problem Areas?
We use several methods to find the structural problem areas in your spine that are causing other health problems. The two primary ways are:
1. The Doctor’s Hands – No instrument is as sensitive as nerves in the human hand. When Dr. Martin gently pushes around on your spine, he can identify areas that are locked up, inflamed or moving wrong.
2. Functional X-rays – We take a special series of functional X-rays to see your spine in several different positions and check if the segments of the spine are moving correctly. This lets Dr. Martin see mobility problems at a segmental level and helps him make very precise adjustments.
Other methods we use here include:
- Structural Posture Analysis (That does not mean sitting up straighter)
- Muscle Testing
- Comprehensive Health History (The art of the doctor listening to the patient may have gotten lost in some places, but not here! Here we listen, really listen, to you.)
This is the best I’ve felt mentally in 20 years after consistently visiting Dr. Martin and him adjusting me for 10 weeks.Anonymous
