Looking for a chiropractor in Durham? You've come to the right place.
Call (919) 794-4455
Here’s what you can expect at your first visit:
Please come in 10-15 minutes early to fill out some paperwork, or download it here to print and fill out ahead of time. Plan on about 45 minutes for your first and second visits. Regular office visits after the first two are much shorter (about 15 minutes). Dr. Martin will ask you some questions to help him understand what is bothering you. Then he will do a chiropractic exam. There’s nothing painful or invasive about the exam. He will gently press around on your spine, do some muscle testing, check your alignment and range of motion, and most likely take X-rays.
X-rays are taken right here at our office, and they are included in the cost of a new patient visit. The Gonstead technique is X-ray dependent so we know exactly where your problem is and how it needs to be adjusted. We take X-rays of your spine in a normal resting position, as well as functional X-rays of your spine in motion. The reason for this is to see if any vertebrae are stuck or moving incorrectly, which leads to long-term problems like arthritis and degeneration.
We are able to bill out to most insurance companies. We accept payment directly from you as the patient, and then if you like, we can take care of submitting the paperwork to your insurance company. If you have chiropractic benefits, the reimbursement checks come directly to you.

Ready to talk with Dr. Martin?
I was genuinely surprised at how much better I felt overall after only a few adjustments by Dr. Martin. His adjustments are so precise. I’ve been to chiropractors before, but none like this. I don’t know if it’s just Dr. Martin, or the Gonstead method … or the combination! All I know is that my lower back isn’t in chronic pain anymore and I’m a lot more active and mobile than I used to be.
So your back hurts. Maybe you can’t even remember the last time it didn’t hurt. You’re popping Ibuprofen like they’re Skittles, and you’re wondering if you might get a little relief from yoga. Is it safe to practice yoga when your back hurts this much? Well, maybe....
PLANKS. Planks engage the abdominal muscles and back muscles, stabilizing the spinal column and mimicking proper lumbar alignment. To do them right and protect your back: Start on your forearms to avoid shoulder strain. Keep your abs tight the entire time. Do not let your back sag. Square your hips with the floor. Have someone take a picture or set up a timed photo/video so you can check whether your back is straight. This is a better way to confirm your posture than using a mirror, because the mirror requires you to twist your neck in the middle of the pose.
